What the role is about

 

Due to internal promotion the role of Accounting & Reporting Specialist has become available within the Accounting & Reporting team of Accell Group. In this role you are responsible for the quality of the external financial reporting and an efficient external audit process. In this role you work together closely with your colleagues of the Accounting & Reporting team, next to you including 2 Financial Controllers and 1 Financial System Specialist, as well as your colleagues of Business Control and Treasury.

 

The team typically consists of young, well-educated professionals with a passion for our great bicycles. In close cooperation with our companies the strategy is converted to actual plans and budgets. The team is furthermore characterized by an informal atmosphere, freedom and flexibility, mutual trust, collaboration and future-oriented work. In Heerenveen you will also find a design, production and sales team, legal / supply chain / IT and HR specialists of different nationalities and backgrounds. In this role you are responsible for:

  • organizing a smooth external audit process and an effective communication with the group auditor;
  • preparing the interim and annual financial statements in accordance with the latest IFRS requirements;
  • maintaining the Accell Group accounting policies and updating the Accell Group finance manual;
  • various accounting matters within Accell Group. Examples are a purchase price allocation, the annual impairment test of goodwill and other intangibles and the treatment of other complex IFRS issues including drafting accounting memos;
  • participating in the period end close, in which your knowledge is deployed on a thematical basis;
  • participating in financial projects in which knowledge and experience are shared with the project staff involved;
  • financial projects in which knowledge and experience are shared with the project staff involved;
  • preparing and providing of internal (IFRS) training courses.

 

In this role you report to the Manager Accounting & Reporting of Accell Group.

 

What we ask for

 

For this great opportunity we are looking for someone with a firm, but open and pleasant personality, who is able to set priorities quickly and as such separate core- from side issues. You need to be decisive, result-orientated, have a strong will and well developed sense for getting to the core of issues, ask the right questions and at the same time able to listen carefully. Obviously you are a constructive team player as you will work with colleagues within Accell Group and the other companies in- and outside of Europe. Furthermore you are a good sparring partner for the external auditor.

 

To perform this role successfully, you must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, as assigned. Below are the required skills for the successful candidate.

  • master degree in Business administration / Accountancy and preferably certified as external auditor (RA);
  • 7+ years of increasing responsible accounting experience in a Big Four firm and/or relevant experience in the corporate environment of a multinational;
  • IFRS knowledge and experience is a hard requirement, as well as extensive experience with applying IFRS to international business issues;
  • hands-on, analytical and pro-active;
  • open, persuasive, constructive and organization sensitive, with strong team skills;
  • excellent Dutch and English language skills, both written and verbal;
  • willing to, incidentally, travel abroad.

 

It is a fulltime appointment on the basis of a 40 hour working week.
